The citizens in America are taking advantage of their own prosperity

Taking the living circumstances and comparing them to other nations such as Africa and Asia, the United States of America has a much superior economy. People who have a well-rounded life need to appreciate what they already have, and then take an outlook on other people’s lives. One should take what they have and appreciate it. Desiring for more than what is to needed is such a greedy characteristic to process in. The principle of life is living in gratitude in what one has.

As a student in high school, I excel to learn about the history of the United States and the world outside of America. In the past battles that been fought and the hemorrhaging of patriots that shed, all is written down throughout history. There was a point that caught my main attention. It was the point of mind that was drawn towards the world outside of the United States. I always had a thought that my life was miserable. Back in elementary school, I would be so jealous of my friends because their parents would make lunch for them everyday, and I would have to line up through the school cafeteria to get my school lunch. I was mad at my parents for not putting in enough effort into raising me. I thought to myself, “All they needed to do was to put five minutes aside into their mornings and make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.” That desire to have a hand-made lunch from my parents would just be exceedingly pleasant. Now that I had grown out of that elementary school phase of neediness, through experiences of my junior high school and high school, I realize how hard it is for my parents. My dad had a heart attack back when I was about four years old, leaving a scar for him for the rest of his life. He could not eat fattening food or grow into stress, therefore confiscating him from the chance of getting a good, permanent job. My mom single-handedly raised my brother and me, juggling two jobs a day, and now, three. Thinking back, how did I ever compare a lunch meal to the hard work my mom has submit to? My eyes were not yet opened to the world. As I proceeded through life, I face personal matters of passing school and overcoming peer pressure while the people outside my world are suffering from hunger, disease, and death.

There is a need to call attention to this world that there is more to life than wealth. Money is a phase of greed that people must bypass beyond through the years of their lives. Why it is that those twenty dollars seem so much to donate to a church, but for shopping, twenty dollars seems so insufficient? I entreat people to make a difference in other people’s lives. Instead of saving money for a bigger house or a fancier car, try saving money for those who are beggars from the streets and those who are sleeping below the deserted creeks. Treasure those grains of rice that you eat every night, because at that same moment, there are millions of other people working through crucial labors day and night for one meal that is equal to your afternoon lunch.
